Emmett George BLANKENSHIP, JR., 85, of Clanton died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.

He was born on Wednesday, April 23, 1924 in Chilton County, Alabama, Son of the late Emmett George Blankenship, Sr. and the late Mary Willie Wesson.

He was a retired automobile salesman.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy M. Blankenship of Clanton, AL; Son, Mr. Jeff Blankenship of Clanton, AL; 3 Daughters, Ms. Greer Albritton of Helena, AL, Mrs. Susan (Jimmy) McKee of Atlanta, GA, Ms. Lori Thompson of Navarre, FL; 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandhild.

Friends will be received from 6-8, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Martin Chapel.

Services will be held Monday, February 8, 2010, at 1:00 pm. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Tony Smitherman and Rev. Donnie Messer officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
