Claude Kendall Snow

June 19, 1938 — September 9, 2024

Judge Ken Snow was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 19th, 1938, the son of the late C.K. Knox and Lucille Lawson Knox. He later took the last name of his beloved step-father, Bart Snow.


Judge Snow attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute where he earned a B.S. in math. After college he joined the USMC and served as an aviator, which included serving in VFMA-542, flying the F4B fighter jet. During that time he flew over 100 missions over Vietnam. After leaving active duty, he attended University of Alabama Law School.


In 1976, Ken was elected to the position of first district judge of Marengo County, where he honorably served for twenty-four years. He was the first judge to serve on the bench of every county in Alabama.


After retirement he enjoyed life playing golf, riding his horse and tending his small farm. In 2010 he and Linda moved to Chilton County where & they lived a happy and contented country life with their horses, dogs, and cats and he served a term as Drug Court Judge.


Judge Snow faithfully served his country, his state and, above all, his God and family.


He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nancy and brother, Sperry Snow.


He is survived by his loving wife Linda Hand Snow, daughters Christina Snow and Robin South, sons Davis Snow, Steven Snow & Richard South, sister Marion Knox, and brothers Bob Snow and Kenny Knox, three grand children, Aaron South, Tessa South (a felloe marine!), and Dawson Park, and three great grandchilden.


A private Celebration of Life will be held on September 28th, 2024, 11:00AM, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Clanton, Alabama.

Rest in peace, Ken, for you truly are a good man.
