Eloyce (Robinson) Marcus lived a life defined by love.
That love led her in everything that she did. It all began when she was born on June 15, 1925, in Jemison. From an early age, she was devoted to her parents and siblings, and it culminated in the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family-except for maybe reading, Snickers bars, and a fanatically clean house-and she was always grateful for the everyday moments that allowed her to selflessly care for them and be the very best wife, mother, and Grandmama that there was.
But the sacrificial love that defined Eloyce didn’t end there. She showed that love to everyone she came in contact with, not in just word or talk, but in deed and in truth, loving others as she knew Christ loved her after she came to faith in Jesus in the mid-1970s. She took Christ’s command to love one another to heart and wholeheartedly cared for her neighbors as if she was serving the Lord. The Lord rewarded her with an inheritance for that Christ-like love when she went home to be with Him on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
While she may have physically left us and this Earth, what will forever remain is her legacy of abiding love. To know Eloyce is to love her, and she has made a lasting impact on so many throughout her life as she has turned complete strangers into lifelong friends.
Though we may have sorrow now, we celebrate heaven’s gain and rejoice that we will one day see our precious Mother and Grandmama again, and no one can rob us of that joy.
Eloyce is reunited in heaven with her loving husband, William Thomas; parents, Thomas M. and Dovie (Davenport) Robinson; sisters, Aileen Hicks, Gladys Adams, Odell Heflin, Thomasine Piper, and Dorothy Conway; and brothers, Bill Robinson and David Robinson.
She leaves behind so many who love and miss her dearly: daughters, Sandra Phillips and Susan (Tim) Townley; sister, Wanda (Jimmy) Foshee; brother, Kent (Pat) Robinson; grandchildren, Chris (Courtney) Townley, Joel (Paige) Townley, and Whitney (JJ) Thomas; great grandchildren, Hailey, Grace, and Carly Townley, Scarlett and Taylor Townley, and Everly Thomas; and a host of other family and friends who will miss her big heart, kind words, and love of the color pink.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Martin’s Funeral Home (1300 Fourth Avenue North, Clanton, 35045) on Saturday, July 29 with a visitation at 11:00 am and service to follow at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Eloyce’s name to Samaritan’s Purse or a charity of your choice.
