Frances Bean Calfee, 90, of Clanton died Friday, September 12, 2014. She was born on Thursday, October 4, 1923 in Alabama, Daughter of the late Willie Bean, Jr. and the late Verna Wright Bean. She was a devoted mother of four children, a homemaker, and a Navy Wife who was required to move her family numerous times to many different assignments over the years. Two of her children where born while her husband, Elree, was deployed. She was born in Thorsby and grew up in Clanton where she attended Chilton County High School. She also attended Grossmont College, La Mesa, California for two years. Frances was a loving soul who always had a positive attitude and a big, beautiful smile. She felt her highest callings where to her God and her children and she was always an active member of her church, the last being Mulberry Baptist Church in Maplesville. She loved to garden and to share and preserve what she grew. She was an excellent seamstress and an accomplished cook. Her family will miss her dearly. Surviving are her Daughter, Jeane Calfee Gross of Clanton, AL; Sons, Larry W. (Patricia C.) Calfee of Vacaville, CA, Ronald A. Calfee of Clanton, AL; Grandchildren, Gary W. Calfee of Santa Clara, CA, Gregory M. Calfee of Rolla, KS, Christopher H. Calfee of Alameda, CA, Sarah Calfee of London, England, Philippe Calfee of Orlando, FL, Liliane Calfee of Chicago, IL, Nichole Gross of Boone, NC, Casey Gross of Durham, NC; Sisters, Marilyn Jones of Decatur, AL, Judy Wilkins of Clanton, AL; Brother, Jack Bean of Birmingham, AL; 6 Great-Grandchildren, Numerous Nieces, Nephews, & other family. Preceded in death by her Husband, Julian E. Calfee; Daughter, Linda Ann Calfee. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Mulberry Baptist Church. Services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Mims, Rev. David Bishop, Rev. Robert Sandifer officiating. Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery Fund: In memory of Frances Calfee at 3233 County Road 29, Thorsby, AL 35171. Martin Funeral Home directing.
