Gibson VON SCHMITTOU, 88, of Clanton died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Chilton Medical Center, Clanton. He was born on Wednesday, August 27, 1921 in Nashville, TN, Son of the late Bart Von Schmittou and the late Ora Dixie Foster Von Schmittou. He was a Design Engineer for military aircrafts with General Dynamics Former resident of Maplesville. A Navy Veteran of WWII serving on naval carriers: USS Ranger & USS Lake Champlain. Surviving are his 2 Sisters, Trudy Wilson, Debbye Clinard; Numerous Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 59 years, Mildred Von Schmittou. Friends will be received from 12:30-1:30 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2009 . Services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 1:30 PM. at Plantersville Christian with Rev. Mike Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Plantersville Christian, Plantersville, Alabama.
