Obituary for Harold “Harry” Ross Ellison
Harold “Harry” Ross Ellison was born on June 27, 1933 in Clanton, Alabama to Ross Overton and Mildred Shaw Ellison. He went home to be with the Lord at the age of 91 on September 25, 2024. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children. Harry was a 1951 graduate of Chilton County High School. He was a truck driver and served his country in the United States Army. He was married to the love of his life, Judeen Culp Ellison, for 67 years.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents Ross Overton and Mildred Shaw Ellison as well as by his infant son Roger Alan Ellison. He is survived by his wife Judeen Culp Ellison, son Hal (Judy) Ellison, daughter Teresa (Fletcher) Green, daughter Sherry (Jay) Minor, brother Joe Ellison, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ross (Susie) Ellison, Ryan (Brittani) Ellison, Dustin (Jill) Green, Haley Arnold, Jessica (Judson) Mott, Samuel (Magenn) Green, and J.D. (Baylee) Minor. Harry is also survived by his fourteen precious great-grandchildren Rylea Ellison, Parker Ellison, John Ross Ellison, Gunner Arnold, Elliett Arnold, Mary Rae Ellison, Andrew Green, Connor Green, Allie Sue Mott, Owen Mott, Colton Minor, Cooper Mott, Walker Minor, and Emma Claire Mott.
To those who loved him most, Harry was known affectionately as “Gramps.” Gramps was a wonderful Christian man who served his church (Mt. Nebo Methodist Church) faithfully. He was a lover of running, sports (especially when his grandchildren or great-grandchildren were playing), biking, bowling, jigsaw puzzles, and Auburn Football. He was always ready to share a joke with you and loved to laugh and tell a good story. Gramps was deeply loved and will be remembered for his devotion to his faith and his family.
Visitation for Harold Ross Ellison will be held at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church in Clanton, Alabama on the evening of Friday, September 27th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church with a graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Harold “Harry” Ellison to Mt. Nebo Methodist Church. Donations can be mailed to 264 County Road 230, Clanton, Alabama 35045.
