James Edward Gillantine, 82, of Gulf Shores, Alabama passed away March 15, 2022 at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1939 in Birmingham, AL, the second of three children, son of the late Joseph Gillantine and the late Susan Hodges Gillantine.
After retiring, he loved to read, work outside and walk. He was a Sunday School teacher and deacon for many years at Liberty Hill Baptist Church and
faithfully served as a substitute Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Foley, Alabama. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife, Sue.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Nina Sue Wright Gillantine of Gulf Shores, AL, daughters, Cindy (Tommy) Carroll of Gulf Shores, AL, Lisa (Alan) Jones of Opelika, AL, 5 grandchildren, 6 (+1 due in April) grandchildren, sister, Martha Barber, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Martin Funeral Home chapel with Alan Jones officiating.
The family requests no flowers.
Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
