Jeanette Pauline “Tootsie” Duren Scott, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 24, 2021. Born on April 29, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Pauline Grubbs Duren. She was a lifelong member of and pianist for Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. She was involved in all of the children and youth activities, because of her love for children. She is best remembered in the community for singing with the Gospel group, “The Fishers of Men” for 43 years. Tootsie was a beloved wife, mother, and “Mama T” to six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with two more on the way. Left behind to cherish her memory are: husband of 64 years, Percy R. Scott; brothers, R.W. “Dub” Duren (Becki) and Lewis Duren (Millie) of Clanton; son, Derric T. Scott (Susan) of Jemison; son, Jody R. Scott (Sharon) of Verbena; and daughter, Sonya S. Calhoun (Randy) of Cropwell. Tootsie is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody R. Scott (Kaitlyn), Teala M. Buck (Andy), Katie S. Hilyer (Perry), Dylan W. Calhoun (Lexie), Stuart L. Scott, and Colten R. Scott (Kayla); and great grandchildren, William and Joan Buck, Amelia Hilyer, Brooks Scott, Reese Runski, and Lynleigh and Parkes Scott.
