Lois Cleveland "L.C." Bowman, Jr.

L.C. Bowman, Jr., 86, of Jemison, Alabama passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 11, 1938, in Chilton County, Alabama.  L.C. was a member of the famous Verbena High School football team that won 50 straight games under Coach J.R. Porch.  He joined the Navy and learned his trade as a machinist on the USS Amphion.

L.C. loved his beautiful wife, Dwan.  He loved his mom, dad, & sisters.  He loved playing football.  He loved the Navy.  He loved his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, & great grandchildren.  He loved the Crimson Tide.  He loved everyone he met.  He loved his church.  Most of all, L.C. loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about Jesus’ love for them.

Surviving are his wife, Dwan Bowman, and children, Lynne Hand (Lawrence), Freddy Bowman (Dorothy), Nancy Smith (Willie), Merry Lavender, Joey Bowman (Elicia), and stepchildren, Jay Childress (CJ), Sheri Morrison (James), Jon Childress (Angela), and sisters Carolyn Lee, Betty Miller, and stepbrother, Lamar Rollan. In addition, he is survived by 24 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren.

L.C. was preceded in death by his father, L.C. (Pete) Bowman, Sr., mother, Nellie Ruth Bowman, and son, James (Jay) Bowman, and grandson, Jimmy Lee Bowman, and stepsister, Sue Ann Utsey, and stepbrother, Gerald Rollan, and stepsister, Janice Logan (Bill), and brothers-in-law, James Lee, Don Miller.

Graveside service & internment will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 3:30 pm at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Clanton, Alabama with Rev. Kent Dodson officiating.

Pallbearers are Jonathan Bowman, Jeremy Bowman, Craig Smith, Chad Smith, Chance Smith, & Joseph Bowman.

Honorary Pallbearers are Nathaniel Dennis, Jacob Dennis, Denham Childress, Skyler Pereira, Jamie Blalock, Joshua Bowman, & Alex Blalock.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
