Mabel Schock Moore

Mabel Schock Moore, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at her home in Clanton. Mrs. Moore was born September 6, 1921, in Mobile, to the late Mabel Jones Schock and William Schock. She is survived by daughter Susan Elsevier Saint-Just (Jacques) of LePecq, France, son Charles Richard Moore, Jr. (Sally) of Clanton; grandchildren Philippe Saint-Just of Birmingham, Nicolas Saint-Just of LePecq, Charles Richard Moore III (Amy) of Birmingham, Elizabeth Moore Humphreys (Ryan) of Nashville, TN, and William Bealle Moore of Mobile; great grandchildren Sally Elizabeth Moore and Davis Sheehan Moore. She was pre-deceased by her parents; brother William Schock, Jr.; husband Adolph Elsevier and husband Charles R. Moore. Mrs. Moore was a graduate of Murphy High School, of Judson College where she received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, and of Auburn University. She worked as chemist in the Alabama Army Ammunition Plant in Childersburg during World War II and later as a lab specialist for the Mobile County Health Department. For more than sixty years, she was a resident of Clanton and an active member of First Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family, community and church. She will be greatly missed by a loving family and many long-time friends. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 30. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am and private burial will follow at Martin Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank the friends and caregivers who provided support during her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 210 Second Avenue North, Clanton, AL 35045, or Judson College, 302 Bibb Street, Marion, AL 36756.
