Myrtle Emell Smith Hayes, 100 years old of Plantersville, AL passed away October 12, 2022.
Mrs. Hayes was born June 20, 1922 in Chilton County, AL, to the late Allen and Myrtle Smith (Wells).
Mrs. Hayes was employed at Maplesville High School in the lunchroom for 28 years.
She is survived by her son W.C. Hayes, Jr. (Janice); step-daughters, Helen Jackson and Betty Wells and their families; sisters, Lois Hunter, Mildred Stone (Johnny), Charlotte Smitherman (Doug) and their families, grandchildren, Rhonda Turley (Darnell), Stefanie Wells (Jeff), Kim Mcleod (Steve), Karen Hyde (Adam), Kevin Hayes (Tina); great-grandchildren, Breeann Rush, Jackson Hyde, Hayes Hyde, Bryan Jackson (Jodie), Ian Wells, Blaise Hayes; and great-grandchildren, Georgia and Mya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Curtis Hayes Sr., son, Ralph Eugene Hayes, father, Newton Allen Smith and mother, Clarice Myrtle (Wells) Smith and four brothers, Richard Allen Smith, Willie Charles Smith, Omar Jr. Smith, Cecil Hillard Smith.
Family and friends will be received Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton, AL.
Services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. William Earl Short officiating, Martin Funeral Home directing.
