Norma Lou Popwell, 81, of Clanton, Alabama passed away August 16, 2022 at her residence.
She was born December 8, 1940 in Alabama, daughter of the late William Coggins and the late Aberdeen Coggins.
Norma Lou started out as a bookkeeper after graduating high school. She worked at Liberty National for a number of years and later as a teacher aide at Chilton County High School. She loved serving the church by being an assistant to her pastor husband while playing the piano at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church and Walnut Creek United Methodist Church. She was a loving and generous wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her Husband, James Lewis Popwell; Sons, James "Greg" (LouAnn) Popwell and Darren Lewis (Carol) Popwell; Grandsons, Alex Popwell and Jack Popwell; Granddaughters, Callen Moyer, Jaybeth Popwell and Tatum Popwell.
She was preceded in death by her Father, William Coggins, Mother, Aberdeen Coggins, Sister, Glenda Powell.
Friends will be received Friday, August 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Creek Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Creek Church with Billy Maddox officiating.
Interment will follow in Walnut Creek Church Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ALS. org.
The family would like to extend appreciation to all of those who have loved and supported them over the past several years. A special thanks goes to Billy and Carolyn Maddox for there love and care.
