Alee Stewart Johnson Sasser

July 3, 1921 — March 17, 2018

Mrs. Sasser died March 17, 2018 in Clanton, where she was born on July 3, 1921. She was the sixth daughter and last surviving child of Dr. and Mrs. N.S. Johnson. When she was born her older sister, Priscilla, who had wanted a baby, Billy, like her father had delivered for the Mims family, was convinced that her wish had come true and insisted on calling her baby "Billie." And afterwards she was so named by friends and family. Mrs. Sasser graduated for Loretta Academy in Bethlehem, Kentucky, Stephens College and the University of Alabama. While she worked for the Department of Agriculture's Home Demonstration Program and the Department of Social Welfare in the late forties and early fifties, the majority of her career was spent teaching Science and Home Economics in Brantley where she lived with her family for fifty years. Her husband of sixty years, Jesse A. Sasser, predeceased her, and she is survived by her son, Jesse A. Sasser, Jr., (Frances), her daughter, Jane S. Moore; her grandchildren; Raine S. Pipkin (Matthew), J. Strock Moore, Stewart D. Moore, Margaret W. Sasser and great-grandchild, George W. Pipkin. There will be a funeral service for Mrs. Sasser at Grace Fellowship Church in Clanton, AL., 1208 4th Ave N. at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 21 and a graveside service at the Cemetery in Brantley at 3:00pm on Wednesday, March 21. A visitation will follow each service. No flowers, family suggests a gift to Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O.
