Annie Sue Jones

Annie Sue Moates Jones passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023. She was born in Chilton County Alabama on August 19, 1939.

Annie graduated as valedictorian of her high school class earning her a scholarship to attend nursing school at Samford University in Birmingham. She also exceeded in her studies there graduating at the top of her class. Annie married Bural Jones shortly before graduation from nursing school and returned with him after graduation to his hometown of Quincy, Florida. Once in Quincy she took a position as an RN at Gadsden Memorial Hospital where she excelled in her career and became Director of Nursing. Together Annie and Bural opened and operated AB Jones Grocery in Quincy until Bural’s passing 1995. After his passing she returned to live in Clanton, Alabama. Annie is survived by one son, Michael Jones (Kathy), two stepdaughters, Mary Stoner(Steve) and Nancy Touchton. Two brothers Kenneth Moates and Ronnie Moates (Patsy). Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A special niece, Valerie Smitherman (Craig). Annie is predeceased by her parents George and Christine Moates, one brother, Donny Moates, two sisters Jeanette Moates and Judy Popwell.

There will be a graveside service at Mt Springs Church in Clanton on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1:00pm with Rev. Don Vanderslice.
