Barbara Elaine Thomas Wood passed away on December 24th at Hatley Health Care in Clanton, Alabama. She was born September 15, 1947 in Taylorville, Illinois to Billy J. Thomas and Helen M. McWhinnie Thomas.
She grew up in Edinburg, IL. She retired from Huntsville Texas Prison as a Death Row Correctional officer. She lived in Texas for many years the moved to Alabama in 1999. She loved God, her family, her flower gardens, and fishing. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church of Verbena Alabama.
She is proceeded in death by her son, Thomas Ross Fairchild; Parents, Billy J. Thomas and Helen M. Thomas; Brother, Roger K. Thomas and Sister, Marie Elaine Thomas.
She is survived by two brothers, Edward Thomas of Taylorville, IL and Paul R. (Cindy) Thomas of Verbena, AL; Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
