Bartley (Sonny) Giles

Bartley A Giles (Sonny) age 75 of Maplesville, AL passed away peacefully at his home Monday, March 7, 2022.

He was born in Maplesville, AL to the late Barley H. Giles and Florence Giles Cranmore, May 4, 1946.

He graduated from Isabella High School in 1964 and shortly after met the love of his life, Betty Ann Mitchell.  They were married June 8, 1968.  He joined his father’s family farm which became Giles and Giles Farm.

He later became a logger and worked in the timber business for several years.  He retired from the timber business in 2004 and returned to full time farming which was his passion.  He continued growing a variety of fruits and vegetables until he became ill a few months ago.

He was an avid hunter and had many Trophy Kills over the years as evidenced in his trophy room at his residence.

He loved life, family and friends.  He will be missed tremendously.

He is survived by his Wife, Betty M Giles; Sons, Jeff Allen (Brigetta) Giles, Brian Hillman Giles; Mother Florence Giles Cranmore; Grandsons, Brandon W. (Ashley) Giles, Troy A Giles; Granddaughters, Kendell C. (Shawn) Pendley, Katelyn Giles, Allison Giles; Great Grand Children; Braxton Giles, Brennan Giles, Kenley Barrett, Rylan Pendley; Sister, Joyce (Cleo) Conn; Stepsisters, Faye (Earl) Pike, Kay (Farooq) Qureshi; Step-Sister-in-Law, Brenda Cranmore; Step-Brother-in-Law, Ronnie Rainer; Nephew, Danny (Debra) Stough; Nieces, Janet (Ritchie) Eldridge, Sheila (Tommy) Wallace; and a host of Family and Friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Bartley H Giles; Stepfather, Vernon Cranmore; Stepsister, Joyce Rainer; Stepbrother Vernon Dale Cranmore.

Friends will be received Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Powell and John Barfoot officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church #2, Hillcrest Baptist Church or The American Heart Association.
