Belva Liles Johns, 91, of Clanton, AL passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1935 in Talladega, Alabama to the late William Palmo Liles and the late Lela Mae Hill Liles.
Belva graduated from Talladega High School in 1952. She went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Auburn University and later she earned her Masters of Education from The University of Alabama. She married the love of her life, Dr. Kent Johns in 1963 and soon after they moved to Clanton.
Belva enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a master gardener and enjoyed growing her own garden and flowers. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Belva was a connoisseur of the arts and often attended the Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery. She was also active in the community and served on many boards and committees. She was the Chair of the Rita Jones Scholarship Committee. She served many years on the First Offenders Community Committee through the District Attorney’s office. She was a long standing member at First Methodist Church of Clanton, where she served on multiple committees. She also attended Trinity Episcopal Church.
Belva had a passion for travel and went to many places all over the world. Egypt, Israel, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China and Ireland were some of the places she enjoyed visiting.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Kent Johns and many loving family members.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Martin Funeral Home, with Visitation at 1:00 pm and the funeral at 2:00 pm. The family wishes to thank all of those that helped to care for Belva these last several months. We appreciate your love and care.
