Benny Charles Childress, 72, of Gadsden died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden. He was born on Friday, January 26, 1940 in Chilton Co., Alabama, Son of the late Charles Alton Childress and the late Lena Barrett Williams Childress. He was a purchasing director in the manufacturing industry. Surviving are 2 Sons, Alan (Lisa) Childress of Clanton, AL, Kyle Childress of San Francisco, CA; Sister, Jeanene (Donny) Bean of Thorsby, AL; Brother, Jimmy (Debra)Childress of Thorsby, AL; 3 Grandchildren, Austin (Camille) Childress of Nashville, TN, Katelyn (Zac) Champion of Thorsby, AL, Isabella Childress of Clanton, AL; Great Grandchild, Lincoln Champion of Thorsby, AL. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles & Lena Childress and daughter, Kristi Childress. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at New Life Community Church. Services will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 2:00 pm. at New Life Community Church with Rev. Scott Springer officiating. Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery, Thorsby, Alabama.
