Benny Harris

Riley Bernard "Benny" Harris was born April 28, 1955. He departed this life early Monday morning, June 22, 2015 at the age of 60. Benny is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Dorriety Harris and loving daughter, Andrea Nicole Harris to cherish his memory. Benny also leaves behind his beloved parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Lowell Harris, younger sister, Charlene Harris (Roger) Yeargan, and many more loving family members. Though Benny had many great passions in his life, his faith surpassed them all. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Prattville. Benny devoted his life to his walk with Christ and dedicated his days to his Lord and Savior. He was an inspiration to many and an outstanding pillar of the community. He was an active and loyal member of the Gideon Bible Society; Autauga and Chilton Counties Genealogy Society; and many civic organizations. Benny, who was a proud Eagle Scout, never turned down an opportunity to engage himself in the Boy Scouts of America. He also volunteered many hours to the Sons of the American Revolution. He recently received an award from the Sons of Confederate Veterans for a Brigade Level Meritorious Service after his work aiding the restoration of Indian Hill Cemetery. Benny was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Mr. Rheubin Scott, Ms. Pearl Foshee Scott, Mr. & Mrs. Lowell Harris. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 in the evening located at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton, AL. Funeral services will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 2:30 at First Baptist Church of Prattville, beginning with a visitation from 1:00-2:15. He will be laid to rest at Chilton Memorial Gardens, Clanton, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Prattville First Baptist Church, Benny Harris Mission Fund.
