Bertha "Joan" Barber, 81, of Maplesville, Alabama went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 13, 2024.
She was born April 15, 1942, in Alabama, daughter of the late Andrew Joshua Banks Jr. and the late Bertha Frances Banks.
Joan was a wonderful Christian that loved her family, especially her son-in-laws. She became a Christian as a young girl and led her parents to Christ. She was a nursery worker at Hillcrest and loved those babies. God and family were everything to her, she was the prayer coordinator and the biggest prayer warrior. Joan was a floral designer for most of her life, gardening was one of her many gifts. She was a member of the Chilton County Master Gardeners and loved to serve. Joan was always a part of decorating at Hillcrest Baptist and served on the Hostess Committee. She was a master of many hobbies including canning, crocheting, sewing (self-taught), and baking. Joan loved praying and reading her Bible, but more than anything she loved to make things for people and see them smile. She loved her grandkids, Jason spent many years visiting her and GranGran in Maplesville fishing and hanging out. Patrick has always been a source of humor; he loved to draw her picture and write her tickets he was her police guy. Katy is her first granddaughter and mother to her only great-grandchild; she loved painting with her, talking, baking and all quality time. Khloe her youngest granddaughter loved spending time with her painting, doing crafts and she taught her to crochet. Joan was loved dearly by everyone especially her family she will truly be missed.
Surviving are her Daughters, Lesia (Phillip) Howell, Sabrina (Leroy) Cooper; Grandsons, Jason (Meghan) Howell, Patrick Cooper; Granddaughters, Katy (Mick) Cooper, Khloe Rasberry; Great-Granddaughter, Layla Rose Hubbard; Sister, Patricia (Russ) Gaddy; Brother, Ronnie (Marlene) Banks; Hillcrest Baptist Church Members; and family friend Red Lovelady.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Neal Barber; Mother, Bertha Frances Banks; Father, Andrew Joshua Banks, Jr.; Brothers, Wayne Banks, Jerry Banks.
