Billy Gene Shields

Billy Gene Shields, 70, of Jemison, Alabama passed away on March 18, 2025, in Jemison, AL.

He was born on December 17, 1954, in Clanton, Alabama, and was the son of the late Lamar and Leone Shields.

Billy passed from this worldly life peacefully at his home in Jemison on March 18, 2025.  Although he faced many health challenges over the past several years, his love for his family and friends never wavered. Billy worked many years in 30 plus states as a Project Manager.  He loved to tell everyone that he was in Alaska for the whole summer - both days of it!  But those who knew him best knew that he loved working as a police officer being able to protect and serve those in his community. He worked part time with Jemison Police Department, Thorsby Police Department and Maplesville Police Department for over 30 years.  He also enjoyed working on cars and watching Auburn football.

Billy is survived by his wife, Judy Giles Shields, daughters Christa (Jeremy) Hayes, Amber Carroll, son William Bradley (Mary) Shields and step daughter Joni (Troy) Maddox, grandchildren Alyssa Hayes, Josh Hayes, Caiden Carroll, Hunter Carroll, Everly Shields, Braden Maddox and Riley Maddox.

Preceding Billy in death were his parents Lamar C. Shields and Leone Thomas Shields, brother Thomas L. Shields, grandparents William Lee Thomas and Lillie Mae Nobles Thomas and William T. Shields and Nellie Gray Shields.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aveanna Hospice, Elder Care and a special thanks to Rosario Lancaster who helped to care for him daily this past year.

Friends will be received on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 12:00 P.M to 1:00 P.M at Martin Funeral Home in the Chapel.

Services will be held on, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 P.M at Martin Funeral Home in the Chapel with Brother Daniel Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, in Jemison, Alabama.
