Billy Von Short

Billy Von Short, age 79, of Clanton passed away, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his residence with family and friends present. He was born in Jefferson County, Birmingham, Alabama, on May 23, 1937, the Son of the late Bertie Lee Short and the late Nevada Pauline Salter. He was a retired firefighter for the City of Montgomery and the State of Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne. He is survived by his wife, Eathel Elizabeth Sellers Short of Clanton, AL; son, Kenny Short (Tammy) of Clanton, AL; daughter, Kelly Cleckler (Tony) of Clanton, AL; grandchildren, Ken Short, Kinsley Maddox (Matt), and Hope Short; great-grandchildren, Abby & Will Short, Rhett Maddox; sisters, Margaret Herring of Tuscaloosa, AL, Doris Inez Norris of Hueytown, AL; brothers, Belton Short of Pleasant Grove, AL, Ronald Short of Pleasant Grove, AL; A host of nieces, nephews, & friends. The family would like to thank his loving caregivers, Deidra Rogers Worthy, Theresa Bolton and Mary Worthy. Visitation will be held from 5-7, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Martin Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Moore's Historic Cemetery, 6043 Moore Cemetery Road, McCalla, Alabama with Pastor Barbara Brewi officiating.
