Brenda W. Hand

Brenda Wheeles Hand, B.A., M.S.E., Ed.S., 71 years of age, passed away on the evening of December 9th, 2022, surrounded by family and close friends.

Born in Alexander City, Alabama on April 4th, 1951; the only child of the late Luther Wheeles and the late Loree Wheeles of Ashland, AL. She grew up in Ashland, graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. Brenda married Raymond Hand on June 8, 1973. She earned a Master of Science in Education in 1984 and an Education Specialist degree in 1988, both from Troy University.

Her career as an educator spanned four decades. She taught at Wetumpka High School, Autaugaville High School, and for the majority of her career she taught high school English at Prattville High School.

Her only surviving relative is her daughter, Hilary Hand Howitt (Husband Dr. David G. Howitt) of Davis, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Hand, father Luther Wheeles; and mother Loree Wheeles.

Friends will be received Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton, AL.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian May officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain Creek Baptist Cemetery.
