He was born on Sunday, September 29, 1946 in Chilton Co., AL, Son of the late James David Popwell and the late Virginia Caton Popwell. He was a Crew Leader with Alabama Power Co. Surviving are his Wife, Dorrise Popwell of Clanton, AL; 2 Daughters, Carla (Joey) Wilson, Amberly (Gary) Woods; 2 Sons, Tim (Connie) Popwell, Anthony Popwell; 10 Grandchildren, Joseph Wilson, Jacob (Adrienne) Wilson, Anna Wilson, Jaylen Coggins, Bailey Coggins, Emily Woods, Savanna Woods, Lindsey Popwell, Brady Popwell, Cheyanne Popwell; Great-Grandchildren, Hayden & Kelton Wilson; Great-Grandchild, Sarah Wooldridge; 3 Sisters, Jackie (Herman) Staggs, Anita (Rickey) Smitherman, Bernice (Ray) Jones; 2 Brothers, David Popwell, James Earl (Betty) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his Parents, James & Virginia Popwell. Friends will be received from 5-8, Thursday, June 9, 2011 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Samaria Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Nobles and Rev. Mike Lawrence officiating.
