Charles “Chuck” Wade Compton, 70, of Jemison, Alabama passed away July 17, 2026, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL

He was born March 24, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Charles Compton and the late Doris Compton. He attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois before moving to Alabama where he graduated from Jemison High School in 1974

He was a member of the Stanley Cost Masonic Lodge in Jemison, AL (#411) since 1997. Chuck was an avid fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, and never missed a football game, whether he was there in person or watching with friends and family.

During his life he worked as a mechanic for Blue Circle Industries and as a service technician and manager for Oakwood Homes. For more than the last 20 years, he has acted in various roles for Magnolia River Services where he most recently served as a Senior Account Manager.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Sonja Compton; Son, Justin (Sophia) Compton, Grandson, Oliver Compton; Granddaughter, Clover Compton; Two Sisters, Ronda Brewer and JoAnne (Curtis) Bradley; Brother, Dan Compton; Mother-in-law, Jean Mims; Brothers-in-law, Ricky ( Jackie) Mims, Craig Mims, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles E. Compton and his Mother, Doris Compton; Father-in-law, Richard Carvel Mims.

Friends will be received Monday, July 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison, Alabama.
