Charles "Chuck" Rankin Rice

Charles "Chuck" Rankin Rice, 74, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away August 20, 2026, at his residence.

He was born September 5, 1951, in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Rice; mother, Lorraine Rice; sister, Sandra Edwards.

He served as a Veterans Affairs Education Liaison for forty years ensuring that education needs for veterans were met. He was also active in Civitan serving in a variety of leadership positions, including Governor of the Alabama-Florida District in 2015-16. He volunteered with the Verbena Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a vocalist and bass player in Home Remedy, a local bluegrass band. He was an active member of the Capitol City Camera Club for many years and, above all, was just an all-around cool guy.

Surviving are his wife, Anita Rice; brother, Richard (Christine) Rice; sister, Karen Milton; his beloved dog, Zeb; a host of other family and friends.

Friends will be received Monday, August 24, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Mills and Rev. Mike Watts officiating.

Interment will follow in Verbena Cemetery, Verbena, Alabama.
