He was born on Sunday, November 12, 1950 in Chilton Co., Alabama, Son of Robert Childress and Minnie Mae Davenport Childress. He was a Superintendent at C. N. Bailey Construction Co. Surviving are Wife, Kathy Patterson Childress of Jemison, AL; Daughter, Kimberly (Kerry) Smitherman of Clanton, AL; Son, Christopher Brian Childress of Jemison, AL; 3 Grandchildren, Wesley and Whitney Smitherman of Clanton, AL and Callie Childress of Clanton, AL; Parents, Robert & Minnie Childress of Thorsby, AL; 3 Sisters, Martha (Keith) Jackson of Thorsby, AL, Laura (Mark) Jones of Thorsby, AL, Amy (Kevin) Nelson of Clanton, AL; Brother, Ronnie (Christie) Childress of Thorsby, AL. Friends will be received from 5-7, Friday, December 21, 2012 at Pates Chapel Baptist Church. Services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 2:00 pm. at Pates Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. William Short, Rev. Calvin Smitherman, Rev. William Key, Rev. Larry Patterson and Rev. Justin Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Pates Chapel Baptist Cem., Jemison, AL.
