Danny Hayes died peacefully on June 2, 2024, at the age of 73. Danny was born at home in Thorsby, Alabama, on October 27, 1950. He graduated from Thorsby High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Samford University, McWhorter School of Pharmacy. Danny was the founding owner of Hayes Drug and Gift in Jemison, Alabama, from 1977 until retirement in 2018. Danny was a member of First Baptist Church Jemison.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents Pink and Carrie Hayes, his father-in-law, John M.B. Ray, Sr., his sister, Faye Burnette, his brother, Buddy Hayes, and his brother-in-law, Johnny Burnette.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Ray Hayes, their daughters Kendall Hayes Jackson (Brad) and Erin Hayes Ward (Micah). Grandchildren Ben Jackson, Jane Jackson, Aidan Ward, Alivia Ward, Adrian Ward, Alex Ward, and Andi Rose Ward. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Alabama Oncology, Shelby Advanced Wound Care Clinic, Shelby Baptist Hospital, Southern Care Hospice, and St. Vincent's Chilton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church Jemison (P.O. Box 760, Jemison, AL 35085) or Pates Chapel Baptist Church (190 County Road 295, Jemison, AL 35085).
Friends will be received Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Jemison First Baptist Church.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Jemison First Baptist Church with Dr. Daniel Wilson and Rev. Rebecca Matheny officiating.
A private graveside for the family will be held at Pates Chapel Baptist Church cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers: David Bishop, Tim Cessna, Bentley Cross, Joey Gillespie, Glenn McGriff, Steve Pate, Michael Ray and Stephen Ray. Honorary Pallbearers: Ben Jackson, Aidan Ward, Adrian Ward, Alex Ward and Alan Wellbaum.
