Dianna "DeeDee" Dae Gregg, 80, of Stanton, Alabama passed away March 24, 2025, at Bibb County Medical Center.
She was born June 7, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Clarence Jenkins and the late Fern Jenkins.At a very young age her father decided to move them west. Over a period of a couple of years, with various stops and odd jobs along the way, they finally settled in California near Hollywood, where she attended and graduated from Hollywood High at the famous Hollywood Bowl. Shortly after, she boarded a train for Belhaven College in Jackson, MS to pursue a degree in accounting. In the meantime, she fell in love and was married. Soon after, she had her first son, Charles Kennedy. They later moved to Selma, AL for work.
God's plan for her began to change and develop as she became a single mother. She then landed a job at Bush Hog, where she met the love of her life and forever husband of 41 years, Tommy Gregg. They had their only son together, Johnny Gregg, in May of 1974.
In 1978, they started their own small business. They provided gas and groceries to the people of Stanton, AL. They worked tirelessly side by side for 30 years. Dee Dee handled the accounting and inventory. After retirement, she lost Tommy at the age of 73, on August 8, 2013.
Dee Dee served Ebenezer Baptist Church for many years by teaching GA's, Acteens, and both Adult and Children's Sunday School. Her heart was dedicated to the Word of God until her very last breathe, when He received His child with open arms.
Surviving are her Son, John Gregg; Grandson, Dalton Kennedy; Granddaughter, Dianna Kennedy; Great-Grandson, Jailyn; Step-sons, Wes Gregg, Russell (Penny) Gregg; Granddaughters, Amy (Keith) Chambers, Harley (Zac) Brown;Great- Grandchildren, Macee and Waylen Brown; Grandsons, Benton Gregg, Ethan Gregg; Great-Granddaughter, Katlyn (Blake) Alley; Great-Grandson, Coley (Sarina) Freeman; Great-Great Granddaughter, Nora Freeman; Sister-in-Law, Darlene (Jay) Threadgill; Nephew, Tony Mendia; Niece, April Robertson; Great -Niece and Nephew, Jace and Kynlee Robertson; Niece, Kelli (Matthew) Price; Great- Niece and Nephew, Zane and Reagan Price.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Clarence Jenkins; Mother, Fern Drake Jenkins; Husband, Tommy Gregg; Son, Charles Kennedy; Brother, John Jenkins; Sister, Lou Ann Mendia.
Friends will be received Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Stanton, AL.
Services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Rasberry, officiating.
Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.
