Donald "Don" E. Mims, 73, of Verbena died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster. He was born on Wednesday, November 20, 1940 in Alabama, Son of the late Elkanha Mims and the late Bethel Mims. He was a Store Owner. Surviving are his Wife, Mrs. Joyce M. Mims of Cooper, AL; Sons, Mr. Bubba Mims (Angie Kent) of Cooper, AL, Mr. Brian Mims of Cooper, AL; Daughter, Mrs. Lisa (Terry) Burdett of Cooper, AL; Grandson, Mr. Terron Mims of Cooper, AL; Granddaughters, Mrs. Cyndel (Danny) King of Verbena, AL, Miss Beth Minor of Clanton, AL, Miss Lakeyn Mims of Harpersville, AL; Great-Granddaughters, Caydence King of Verbena, AL; Sierra Mims of Clanton, AL; Brother, Mr. Ralph (Sharon) Mims of Millbrook, AL; Sister, Mrs. Alice (Dan) Dukes of Ft. Walton, FL. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Elkanha & Bethel Mims. Friends will be received from 5-8, Monday, May 5, 2014 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Randy Strattis officiating. Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
