Dorothy Reynolds Daniel, 101, of Maplesville died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. She was born on Feb. 3, 1909 in Chilton County, the daughter of the late William Frank Reynolds and the late Alabama Martin Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Elly Daniel, sisters Nola Dee Lane of Auburn, Ethelyn Maness of Tuscaloosa, and brother Millard Reynolds of Stanton. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy D. Ellis (Dell), of Enterprise, son, Frank Daniel, Maplesville, grandson, Joe Ellis, of Robertsdale, granddaughter, Della E. Young (Drew) of Macon, GA, great-grandson, Andrew Daniel Young of Macon Ga, Sister-in-Law, Betty Jean Reynolds of Stanton and beloved Nieces & Nephews and countless friends, acquaintances, and former students. Mrs. Daniel graduated from Dallas Co. High School in 1927 and from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1931. While at Auburn, she was an outstanding student, being a member of Sigma Phi Beta Social Sorority, Theda Epsilon honorary sorority, and a member of the Pan Hellenic Council. She was also a member of the Womens Basketball Team. Following graduation, she worked as a teacher in the Chilton County School System for thirty five years at Maplesville and Isabella high schools. She retired in 1971 and remained active in the Clanton Church of Christ, home-making activities, and various community affairs. Friends and relatives will be received from 1-2:30, Sun. Jan. 2, 2011 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:30 in the Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Terrell and Bill Latham officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
