Dorsey P. Cates, 84, of Jemison died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster. She was born on Sunday, March 15, 1931 in Alabama, Daughter of the late William F. Payne and the late Ola Beatrice Gardner Payne. She was a retired secretary at Thorsby High School. Surviving are her Son, Mr. Steve (Janice) Cates of Collins Chapel, AL; Daughter, Mrs. Nena (Mike T.) Atchison of Columbiana, AL; Grandsons, Mr. Alan (Susan) Cates of Mineral Springs, Mr. Jack Atchison (Amanda Gosnell) of Columbiana, AL, Mr. Michael Atchison (Kelley Sturwold) of Columbiana, AL; Brother, Mr. Sonny Payne of Columbiana, AL; Sister, Mrs. Elaine Tidwell of Columbiana, AL. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Mr. J. E. Cates. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Thorsby First Baptist Church. Services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Thorsby First Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison, AL.
