Dr. Van Thomas Greene, Sr.

Dr. Van Thomas Greene, Sr. age 80, of Clanton, AL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 21st day of March, 2011. He was born on November 8, 1930 in Weogufka, AL. to Keener & Carrie Greene. He attended the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, graduating in 1957 with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He served in the U.S. Army in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1960 he returned to Birmingham AL. where he practiced dentistry for 27 years. He moved his dental practice to Thorsby, AL. in 1987 where he practiced dentistry for 24 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Thorsby. He was preceded in death by his father, Keener M. Greene. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Shaneyfelt Greene; daughters, Donna Moseley of Clanton, AL; Elizabeth (George) Dansby of Clanton, AL and son, Van Thomas Greene, Jr. of Alabaster, AL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; mother, Carrie Greene of Springville, AL; brother, John (Frances) Greene of Springville, AL; sister, Kay Greene Johnson of Springville, AL. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Baptist Medical Center-Shelby and Golden Living Center.
