Eddie E. Helms

Eddie Helms, 91, of Clanton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Eddie was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his kindness, integrity, intelligence, and unwavering love for his family. Those who knew Eddie will always remember his gentle whistle and his familiar greeting, “Greetings and salutations,” which reflected his warm and welcoming spirit.

Eddie deeply loved his wife, Betty, whom he affectionately called “his lady.” He was a devoted father to his son, Vince, whom he lovingly called “Sport,” and a proud Grandaddy to his grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Helms; his son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Amy Helms; his grandchildren, Jared (Samantha) Helms, Josh (Taylor) Helms, Thomas (Jenna) Gay, and Joseph Helms and his fiancée, Abbi; his great-grandchildren, Addy, Emmy, James, and Davis; his expected great-grandsons, Judson and Thomas Eddie; his sister, Dorathy Helms and Jan Thompson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charity Helms and Tullis Eddie Helms; his brother, Robert Helms; and his sister, Magalene Hardwick.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Eddie’s faith has become sight and that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His legacy of faith, kindness, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
