Edward (Eddie) Mims, Jr. passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his home in Clanton, AL. He was born on June 1, 1928 in Chilton County, Son of the late Ed Mims and the late Susie Cleckler Mims. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army serving two different terms during World War II and Korean War, receiving a WWII Victory Medal. After the military he worked for General Motors as an automobile paint and body repairman before opening his own business. He was the proud owner of Eddie Mims Used Parts and Junk Yard serving many people for forty plus years. After working most of his life in the car business, he retired from auto work and turned his business into a welding supply shop where he spent the remainder of his career before losing his business to fire. Eddie was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many never hesitating to put others needs before his own. Surviving are his Wife of 44 years, Mary Frances Mims; Daughters, Kim (Mitch) Moore, Pam (Alex) Emerick, Angie (Chris) Handley, Lisa (Donald) Vinzant, Nina (Ronnie) Headley; 10 Grandchildren, Landon Moore, Jacob Emerick, Kacy Handley, Destiny Handley, Shelby Handley, Destinee (Chris) Roberts, Lee (Kelly) Headley, Lori Bice, Crystal (Josh) Robinson, Lindsey (Scottie) Smitherman; 12 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and five sisters. Friends will be received from 5-8, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Glad Tidings Church of God. Services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Church of God with Rev. Dale Collins, Rev. Jeff Mims and Rev. Robert Haggard officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Baptist Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama. Martin Funeral Home directing.
