Elsie Mae Smith

Elsie Mae Smith, age 85, of Maplesville Al., passed away Feb. 10, 2009 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was born on March 22, 1923, in Chilton County, Ala., to James (Papa) and Eunice Irene Walker, and raised by Step Mother Margaret Missouri (Miss Zudie). Mrs. Smith lived in Maplesville most of her life. She was Baptist by faith and a member of The Faith Baptist Church in Stanton, Al. She was a dedicated witness for the Lord. She always had a smile on her face and a hug and a kiss for everyone. She was a wonderful loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, step mom; husband Richard A. Smith, her brother Claude Walker, and her sister Lorene Harrison. Mrs. Smith is survived by, two sons; J.R. Smith and life partner Wendy, of Holt Fl.; Charlie (Al) Smith and wife Tammy of Marietta, GA.; one daughter, Irene Gilbert and husband Butch of Ft.Walton Beach, Fl.; one sister, Doris Smith of Stanton, Al. 13 Grand Children; Robert Earl, Kimberly, Chad, Jimmy, Kim, Jennifer, Melanie, Allen, Robin, Adam, Shea, Karla, and Kyndal; 21 great grand children, nieces, nephews, and her church family. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 pm on Friday Feb 13th 2009 at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton Al. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday Feb. 14th 2009 at Faith Baptist Church, Stanton Al., with Pastors Brother Terry Smith, and Brother Allen Yarlbrough.
