Elvie Jean Patterson, 83, of Clanton, Alabama passed away October 9, 2023, at The Gardens of Clanton surrounded by her loving family.


She was born June 14, 1940, in Alabama, daughter of the late James McGee and the late Celestia McGee.

She was the Housekeeping Supervisor at Hatley Healthcare for 21 years, and Activities Director for her daughter at The Gardens of Clanton for 10 years.


She was a member of Bethsalem Baptist Church for 83 years. She was a GA leader, WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher for many years, led many people to the Lord and had a heart for mission. Her love was to go to the church during the week and pray over the pews, believing her God. She helped so many people in the dark, hoping no one would ever know and always give God the Praise.

Surviving are her Son, Don Harold (Dianne) Patterson; Daughter, Vickie Ann Moseley; Son, Ricky Lee (Cassie) Patterson; Granddaughters, Lindsey (Roddy) Payton, Jodie (Andy) Smith, Hope (Eric) Wilson, Kate (Brad) Pike, Caitlyn (Justin) Reese and Faith Patterson; Grandsons, Dexter Mims, Dylan (Kacy) Moseley and Dalton Patterson; Sister, Betty McGee, Great-Grandchildren, Lydia, Mack, Adeline, Saydie, DonRylie, Charlie, Aleena, Lil Dex, Dawson, Bentley, Everett, Cooper, Evie (Granny's namesake), Ivy, Brye, Nevaeh and Noah; a Host of Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, James Harold Patterson; Infant Son, Daniel Patterson; Brother, Arnold McGee; Sister, Mary Scott; Father, James Otis McGee; Mother, Celestia McGee.

Pallbearers: Dalton Patterson, Dylan Moseley, Roddy Payton, Steve Yeargan, Tim Cox, Greg Green , Scotty Scott and Eric Wilson.


Friends will be received Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bethsalem Baptist Church.

Services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethsalem Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Lightsey, Brother Jeremy Jones, Bro. Andy Smith, Bro. Kenneth Moates and Granddaughter, Hope Mims Wilson officiating, Janice Gray, Pianist and Shirley Smith, Organist.

Interment will follow in Bethsalem Baptist Cemetery, Billingsley, Alabama.
