George Amos Roberts

George Amos Roberts, 85, of Clanton, Alabama passed away April 20, 2024, in Birmingham, AL.

He was born February 22, 1939, in Chilton County, Alabama, son of the late James Roberts and the late Annie Roberts.

He was a Sergeant for the City of Clanton Police Department and a previous Police Chief of Maplesville. In his earlier days he was a Brick Mason.

Surviving are his Wife, Margaret Jeanette Roberts; Daughters, Sandra (Ricky) Hicks, Donna (Leroy) Johnson; Son, Allen (Toni) Roberts; Stepsons, Ricky (Patsy) McElroy, Eddie (Mandy) McElroy, Micha McElroy; Stepdaughter, Brenda Stokes; Grandchildren, Shannon (Benji) Chance, Dianne Belknap, Cecelia (Buddy) Davis, Samantha (Randy) Green, Sammy Johnson, Carrie (Rodney) Dempsey, Connie (Gary) Hand, Nathan (Vickie) Johnson, David (Megan) Johnson, Brian (Amy) Hicks, Kim (Robbie Gilliand) Benson, Robert McElroy, Derek (Tabitha) McElroy, Sable McElroy, Josh (Crystal) Hicks, Brittany Brown, Tyler (Sarah) Smith, Jessica Casper, 31 Great Grandchildren; 16 Great, Great Grandchildren; Special Niece, Shirley Smitherman.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, James & Annie Roberts; Daughter, Sheila Johnson; Son-in-Law, Charles Johnson; Brother, James Roberts; Sister, Barbara Pledger; Granddaughter, April Green; Grandson, Travis McElroy; Great, Great Granddaughter, Julianna Jones; Stepsons, Jesse McElroy; Stepson-in-law, Kim Stokes, Nephews, Kenneth Pledger, Troy Roberts; Previous wife, Peggy Cleckler Roberts.

Friends will be received Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with  Bro. Terry Hicks officiating.

Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens, Clanton, Alabama.
