Gordon Dallas Smelley

Gordon Dallas Smelley, 85, of Clanton, Alabama passed away July 29, 2023, at his residence in Clanton, Alabama.

He was born June 30, 1938, in Moundville, Alabama, son of the late Robert Smelley and the late Ollie Smelley.

Gordon was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after 20 year of distinguished service.  After his Naval career he went to work with Alabama Power as an electrician where he worked until his retirement.

Gordon was also a faithful member of Clanton First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was also a member of their Disaster Relief Team.

Surviving are his wife, Mollie Smelley; daughters, Terri (Andy) Williams, Tara (Gary) Hetzel; sisters, Ollie Myrie Wyatt, Carolyn Kirkland, Rhonda Patrick, Portcia Murphy; brother, Steve Smelley; 3 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dallas Smelley, mother, Ollie Smelley, sister, Glenda Smelley, brother, Bobby Smelley.

Friends will be received Monday, July 31, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Clanton First Baptist Church.

Services will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.. at Clanton First Baptist Church with Bro. Matt DeBord and Larry Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.

The family has requested no flowers but encourage donations to the Clanton First Baptist Disaster Relief Team, 210 6th Street North, Clanton, Alabama 35045.
