Gretchen Holbrook Prady

PRADY, GRETCHEN HOLBROOK of Thorsby, AL passed away at age 64 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was an inspiration to all who knew her well. She was married for over 38 years to Ed, who shared her passion for their family, their church, and for travel around the country. She was a longtime member of First Bapt. Church Thorsby and previously, at First Bapt. Center Point. A longtime registered nurse, formerly at Montclair Hospital, she began work at Shelby Hospital around 1990, where her co-workers became as family to her. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Katie Holbrook and by her in-laws Bob and Ruth Prady. She is survived by her husband Ed Prady, sons; Ken Prady [Marcie], Brian Prady [Chris] and her beloved grandchildren; Erin, Drew, Laina, and Patrick. Also by her sister, Karen Greene [Jim] and her brother Jim Holbrook [JoEllen], her nieces, and a nephew. Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton on Sat. Sept. 24, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Sun., Sept. 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm at First Bapt. Church Thorsby. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the American Cancer Society. Martin Funeral Home directing.
