Hampton Lester Owens, 83, of Verbena died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, May 29, 1930 in Elmore Co., Alabama, Son of the late Otis O. Owens and the late Leila Howell Owens. He was a Meter Reader for the Montgomery Water Authority. Surviving are Wife, Inez Owens of Clanton, AL; 2 Sons, Tony Nelson of Clanton, AL, Scott Owens of Clanton, AL; 3 Grandsons, Kevin Nelson of Clanton, AL, Jamie Nelson of Clearwater, FL, Derek Nelson of Clanton, AL; Granddaughter, Tonya Travers of Clanton, AL; 11 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Son, Rodney Owens. Friends will be received from 1-2, Sunday, July 7, 2013 @ Oak Grove Church of God. Services will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Church of God with Rev. Randall Beagles and Rev. Wendell Kelley officiating.
