Hans Joachim Pierson

Hans Joachim Pierson (Joe) Nov. 15, 1943 - Dec. 5, 2013 Age 70, of Clanton AL, formerly of Birmingham, AL, passed away on December 5 after a brief illness. Hans was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on November 15, 1943, to the late Karl August Kruger and Berta Pierson. A scholarship athlete and graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, he later played rugby for the Birmingham Vulcans. Hans served 6 years with the Arkansas Air National Guard before becoming an Insurance Marketing Executive in Birmingham. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Clanton.Hans is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Hopkins Pierson, to whom he was married 45 years; daughter, Leigh Anne and her husband, John L. Montgomery III of Birmingham, AL; son, Karl Bradley and wife, Tracy Pierson of Kansas City, MO; and four grandchildren: Ava Marie and Olivia Madelyn Pierson, John IV and Hans August Montgomery. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home, Clanton, AL on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 10 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m.Donations in Mr. Pierson's name may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Clanton.
