James Lewis Avary, Sr., 61, of Thorsby died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster. He was born on Tuesday, August 4, 1953 in Alabama, Son of the late James W. Avary and the late Mary Nelle Jones Avary. He was in Maintenance for the City of Clanton. Surviving are his Wife, Debra Avary of Thorsby, AL; Daughters, Stacy Avary of Clanton, AL, Sonya Avary of Clanton, AL, Amanda (Phillip) Delatorre, CO; Son, James Avary, Jr. of Clanton, AL; Brothers, Marion Batson, IN, Larry Batson, MS; Sister, Peggy Medsker, IN; Father-in-Law, Herbert Green of Maplesville, AL; Mother-in-Law, Myrtle Green of Maplesville, AL. He was preceded in death by his Parents, James W. & Mary Nelle Jones. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Joey Green officiating. Interment will follow in Thorsby Memory Gardens, Thorsby, AL 35171.
