James "J.D." David MIMS, 74, of Thorsby died Wednesday, December 30, 2009. He was born on Monday, July 29, 1935 in Chilton Co., AL, Son of the late John Mims and the late Emily Mims. He worked with the State of Alabama in transportation. Surviving are his Wife, Mrs. Sharon M. Dennis of Thorsby, AL; 2 Step-daughters, Ms. Karen Whitman of Webster, FL, Ms. Dianne Martin of Jemison, AL; 3 Step-sons, Mr. Donnie Whitman of Thorsby, AL, Mr. James Whitman of Clanton, AL, Mr. Jimmy Whitman of Jemison, AL; 2 Sister-in-Laws, Ms. Helen Crawford of Calera, AL, Ms. Mary Varden of Jemison, AL. Friends will be received from 5-8, Thursday, December 31, 2009 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel.. Services will be held Friday, January 1, 2010, at 11:00 AM. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derrell Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison, AL. Martin Funeral Home directing.
