James L Mims

James L. Mims, 70, of Clanton, Alabama passed away April 29, 2025, at UAB in Birmingham, AL.

He was born March 26, 1955, in Alabama, son of the late Easson Mims and the late Myrtice Mims.

He exemplified dedication as a family man, committed colleague, and cherished friend. He was rarely seen without a smile on his face and a story to tell. He could be found every morning having breakfast at Jack's with the group, cutting up and telling stories. For numerous years, he took great pride in being part of the Chilton County Rescue Squad and helping others. He was employed with Martin Funeral Home for 54 years where he dedicated himself to maintaining the beauty of the cemeteries.

Surviving are his Wife, Sandra Elizabeth Mims; Daughter, Heather Mims Griffin; Granddaughter, Alexis Griffin; Grandsons, Jesse Griffin, John  Griffin; Sister, Wilma Jean Mims; Brothers, Larry Mims, Richard Mims.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Myrtice Lockhart Mims; Father, Easson Mims; Brothers, Cecil Mims, Benny Mims, Johnny Frank Mims, Charles "Cha-Cha" Mims.

Friends will be received Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
