James Randolph Smith

James Randolph “Randy” Smith, age 70, of Clanton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2026.

Randy was born on March 15, 1956, in Alabama, to the late James Nathan Smith and the late Robyn Nell Owens Smith. He spent his working years as a concrete foreman, but his greatest role in life was being a family man.

Randy was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and loyal friend. He had a great sense of humor and could always tell a good story. His stories, laughter, and personality will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Randy had many things he enjoyed in life. He was a proud Alabama football fan and loved watching sports. He was a talented horseshoe player and enjoyed spending time at auctions and the cattle barn. He also loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed the simple moments spent doing the things he loved with the people he cared about.

Above all, Randy loved his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Brad) Coleman and Cassie White; his sons, Brian (Martha) Smith and Bradley Smith; his sisters, Carol Bice, Becky Smith, and Ann Logan; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his special friend, Benny (Gail) Easterling ; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, James Smith and Robyn Nell Owens Smith; his son, Michael Smith; his sister, Donna Gail Smith; and his brother, Ricky Lynn Owens Smith.

Though Randy is no longer with us, his laughter, stories, love, and memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His greatest legacy is the family he loved so dearly and the memories he left behind.
