Jerry M. Hawthorne, Sr.

Jerry Michael Hawthorne Sr., age 80, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Albert Lyles officiating with burial to follow in Martin Memorial Gardens with Martin Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Eloise Hawthorne; sister Jo Anne Marlowe; brothers Douglas, A.G. and Gary Wayne “Buddy” Hawthorne.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Charlotte and their son Ashton; daughters, Kristina Hawthorne and Kimberly Nichols (Dana); son, Jerry Michael Hawthorne Jr. (Pam); grandchildren, Morgan Hawthorne and Reagan Kelley; brothers, Louie and Phillip Hawthorne; sisters, Bettye Sue Strickland, Allene Madison and Jenny Jones.

Jerry graduated from Tuscaloosa County High in 1961. His first job was at the Northport Fire Department where later he worked for United Parcel Service in Tuscaloosa where he retired after 33 years of service. During that time Jerry worked his way through Seminary School where he became an ordained minister of the Gospel.

Pallbearers will be Phil Palmer, Scottie Wilson, Larry Kimbrel and Dana Nichols.

Honorary pallbearers are Expect Care Nurses and staff.
