He was born on Sunday, October 18, 1942 in Dallas Co, AL, Son of the late Lloyd Smith and the late Clara McElory Smith. He was a maintenance worker at Westing House. Surviving are his Wife, Carolyn Gothard Smith of Jemison, AL; Daughter, April Smith Abernathy; Son, Jerry O'Neal Smith; Grandchildren, Derek Lynn (Felicia) Abernathy, Jacob Wayne Hines, Nicole Smith, Haley Smith (Kenny) Lambert, Austyn Smith; Great-Grandchildren, Karsen Smith, Kayden Smith, Hunter Smith; Brothers, Willie Lee Smith, Billy Joe Smith, Larry Dale (Tammy) Smith; Sister, Betty Smith Whatley. He was preceded in death by his Brother, Edward Leon Smith; Sister-in-Law, Elaine Smith; Brother-in-Law, Jack Whatley. Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Billy Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery, Jemison, Alabama.
