In Loving Memory of Joel "Joe" Douglas Baker  It is with great sadness, we share the news of the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, family and friend to many. He left this world, peacefully at home, in the morning hours of Friday, January 23rd, 2026. He was 75 years old. Most would say he was one of a kind and leaves behind a void that can never be filled. His departure has left us with a deep sense of loss but joy in knowing his soul is now well, his body whole, and his spirit is finally free with the Lord. Joel “Joe” Baker was born on May 8, 1950 to Obie & Audrey Baker. Along with his parents, he grew up with 14 siblings he loved dearly. He lived a life filled with a passionate career in trucking and transportation, abundant love for his wife, adoration for his daughters and grandchildren, and cared deeply for many other family and friends. Although he faced adversity, he knew The Lord and believed in His love, mercy and a greater plan. Throughout his journey, Joe never met a stranger and touched the lives of many with his kindness and wisdom, and his infectious personality and laughter. He believed in filling another’s cup and gave life and others all he had to give. As a husband, he was cherished. As a father, a protector and superhero, and as family and friend, a storyteller and legend in his own right. His once warm, genuine presence will be sincerely missed. His legacy is secure in his family and the memories that will last until they meet again. He is survived in immediacy by his wife, Peggy Baker; daughter, Brandi Baker (Brock) and grandchildren, Emme and Camden; daughter, Kerri Watson (Ben) and grandchildren Ava Kate, Mollie, Barrett, Olivia and Madelyn. He is also survived by siblings, Linda Sconyers (Charles), Elaine Smith, Ginger Davenport (Pete), Carla Cunningham (Charles), Jean Mims, Connie Frye, Cindy Mims (Barney), Mark Baker (Kelly); Mother in law, Joyce Watley; Sister in law, Kathy Hilyer; brother in law, Douglas Watley (Edith), and sisters-in-law, Donna Baker and Shirley Baker. Loved ones precedent to his departure from us, include his parents, Obie and Audrey Baker, grandparents, Estelle & Dee Bates, and Jacie & Lena Baker; sisters, Roxanna Lynn Baker and Virginia Ann Baker; brothers, Bobby Wayne Baker, Barney Neal Baker, Shelby Dee Baker, Edward Durrell Baker, sister in law, Agnes Baker; brothers in law, Roy Mims and Don Smith.
