John Bruce Dean, Jr.

John Bruce Dean, Jr., 75, of Clanton, Alabama passed away September 5, 2024, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

He was born March 5, 1949, in  Montgomery, Alabama, son of the late John Bruce Dean, Sr. and the late Irma Loene Dean.

He retired with AT&T with over 20 years of service. He received National Recognition for the carrying out of the court ordered divestiture of AT&T and Bellsouth.

John loved his family very much. He was passionate about his Christian values, citizens rights, and loved history. He was always helping those in need.

Surviving are his Wife of 47 years, Judy Calhoun Dean; Son, John (Penny) Dean III; Granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Dean; Grandsons, William Lee (Ashley) Davis, Dennis Lee (Sandra) Davis; Great-Granddaughters, Emily Davis, Emma Davis; Great-Grandson, Linus Davis; Sister, Cynthia Dean (Guy) Clark; Nephews, Jason (Adrienne) Clark, Matthew (Amber) Clark, Britt (Becca) Clark.

He was preceded in death by his Father, John Dean, Sr. and Mother, Irma Loene Hall Dean.

Friends will be received Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Derek Castleberry, Ralph Edwards, Garrett Gray, and Carey Menk.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Majerik and Rev. Tony Christensen officiating.

Interment will follow in Verbena Community Cemetery, Verbena, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Verbena Baptist Church, 197 County Road 500 Verbena, Alabama 36091.
